I’m happy to share that I’ll give a talk next week in Vienna at ContainerCon (part of Open Source Summit Europe 2024)! Join me on Tuesday (Sept 17) at 11:55 in Room 0.14 (Level 0) to learn about log collection best practices in multi-tenant Kubernetes environments.
Since Kubernetes doesn’t provide a rich multi-tenant experience out-of-the-box (apart from namespaces), many tools try to provide a generic solution. However, these don’t address the problems specific to collecting telemetry data (logs, metrics, and traces).
We’ve been dealing with Kubernetes logging ever since founding the Logging Operator (now a CNCF sandbox project), and I’ll show you how to solve common logging problems that cause headaches in multi-tenant environments, including:
- noisy neighbors,
- invalid configurations, and
- parsing errors
with Telemery Controller (an OpenTelemetry Collector-based solution) that makes tenants first-class citizens.
You Choose! on DevOps Toolkit
If you are wondering how Fluent Bit, Logging Operator, Opentelemetry Collector, and Telemetry Controller are related, tune in for the ‘You Choose! – Data Pipelines’ episode! I’ll be one of the guests on a ‘Choose-Your-Own-Adventure’-style streaming show through the CNCF landscape. Save the date October 8! You can find the past You Choose! episodes here.
KubeCon
If you can’t make it to OSSummit in Vienna no worries! You can meet me at Observability Day North America (part of KubeCon) in Salt Lake City on November 12 (yet another Tuesday). At KubeCon I’ll dive deep into advanced multi-tenant use cases, and be the first to hear about the brand new Telemetry Controller features that we’re releasing in October. May the demo gods be with me!
