# Router and edge deployment

Axoflow provides agents to collect data from all kinds of [sources](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/data-sources/index.md):

- Kubernetes clusters,
- cloud sources,
- security appliances,
- Linux servers,
- Microsoft Windows hosts.

(If you’d prefer to keep using your existing syslog infrastructure instead of the Axoflow agents, see [Onboard existing syslog/syslog-ng infrastructure](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/deployment-scenarios/existing-infrastructure/index.md)).

You can deploy the [AxoRouter](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/architecture/index.md#router) data aggregator on Linux and Kubernetes.

Using the Axoflow collector agents gives you:

- [Reliable transport](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/concepts/reliable-transport/index.md): Between its components, Axoflow transports security data using the reliable OpenTelemetry protocol (OTLP) for high performance, and to avoid losing messages.
- Managed components: You can [configure](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/data-management/index.md), [manage, monitor](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/onboard-hosts/index.md), and troubleshoot all these components from the [AxoConsole](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/architecture/index.md#console). For example, you can [sample the data flowing through each component](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/onboard-hosts/log-tapping/index.md).
- [Metrics](https://axoflow.com/docs/axoflow/0.86/metrics/index.md): Detailed metrics from every collector provide unprecedented insight into the status of your data pipeline.
